ABOUT  US

The Unlikely Strummers is a group of ukulele players from across southern Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island. We perform at a wide range of community events, from farmers' markets to festivals to minor league baseball games.

An   Unlikely  Beginning

Ukuleles   rock!

The Unlikely Strummers came into being in the summer of 2017, when our informal strum group was invited to play at a local flea market.  Since then, we've expanded in numbers, and performed for events throughout southern Massachusetts and into Rhode Island.
The Unlikely Strummers offer a wide range of standards like "When You're Smiling" and "King of the Road," and early rock classics made popular by groups like the Beatles, Herman's Hermits, and the Searchers, as well as more contemporary hits by artists such as The Band, Bobby McFerrin, Bruno Mars, Cyndi Lauper, and even Santana.  We're continually adding new songs to our set list, too!

In addition to the performing group, Cindy offers Beginner and Beginner II ukulele classes for children and adults, and "Jumpstart" workshops for folks with busy schedules.

Cindy  MilleR

Director
Cindy has had a lifelong relationship with music. After many years of formal training on flute, guitar, and piano, the ukulele is her most recent instrumental adventure. She is one of the few New England ukulele instructors holding a full 3-year program certification through the prestigious James Hill Ukulele Initiative in Toronto and now serves as a mentor for the JHUI program. Cindy has also had the opportunity to study with several other internationally recognized ukulele masters and is a former member of the acclaimed Legacy Ukulele Ensemble, directed by Peter Luongo. She has appeared at the Cape Cod Ukulele Festival, the Ashokan Ukulele Festival, the Southern New Hampshire Ukulele Festival, and at numerous community and non-profit events as a performer and Director of the Unlikely Strummers, as well as at coffeehouses, open mic nights, and other events as part of the duo "Take Two." Cindy co-founded The Unlikely Strummers in early 2017, and continues to be amazed at the wonderful community the group has become. She looks forward to spreading "ukulele love" through classes, workshops, and performances!
